The Internet offers a lot of convenient tools, but it’s also home to unscrupulous people and companies. It’s only natural to be concerned about your security when researching Medicare quotes online, especially in relation to your personal information and healthcare coverage.
There are a few avenues you can take when enrolling in your Medicare plan; one of which is online enrollment. Online Medicare enrollment is a great option for those who are interested in researching and enrolling in plans on their own, as you don’t need to speak with an agent to complete your enrollment. But you may be wondering, “is it safe to sign up for Medicare online?”
What is Medicare? How does Medicare work?
In order to complete enrollment, you will be entering personal information. In addition to your name, you’ll need to share:
-
Contact Information (phone number and address)
-
Social Security Number
-
Medicare card number
Why do we need this information? It’s important that we are able to reach you via phone or mail to provide you with more information about your selected plan. You should never be charged a fee to enroll. Charging a fee for enrollment is illegal. You will be charged for your plan’s premiums only.

Is Medicare online enrollment secure? Will my information stay private?
Because you are entering personal information, you may wish to enroll on a secure website. With the easyMed Insurance Services Online Enrollment Portal, you don’t need to worry about your information being seen by anyone but you. You can make sure that you are using a secure website when it has a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) certificate. SSL certificates encrypt information sent from the website to the servers they travel through, which makes it more difficult for hackers to access that information. SSL certificates also authenticate the identity of the person or business behind the website.
The URL for a website with an SSL certificate starts with “https” instead of “http,” which you can find in the search bar. Both easyMed’s website and Online Enrollment Platform have SSL certificates and start with “https.” A visual indicator of a secure platform is a closed padlock where you see the website address. Non-secure websites are labeled “Not Secure” near the web address as well.
Still uneasy about enrolling online?
That’s okay! It is easy and simple to compare plans in your area using our Online Enrollment Portal. The only information needed to see all plans offered in your area is your zip code, as all Medicare plans are specific to certain zip codes and counties. From there you can add your primary physician(s) and prescriptions to narrow down a plan that is great for you, but it isn’t required. Once you have found a plan that you like, you can call a licensed easyMed insurance agent to help you complete your enrollment without entering any personal information online.
Don’t want to deal with searching online? That’s okay, too! Call a licensed easyMed agent and have them do the work for you. They will be able to find and compare plans in your area and filter the results based on your primary physician, prescription medications, and other additional benefits you’re looking for. Once you’ve decided on a plan, they will guide you through the enrollment process.
